Kudos to the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services’ Office of Medical Assistance for amending the State Plan to enable providers to bill for the services of community health workers (CHW). CHWs are a critical part of many SBHC teams in assessing and addressing social needs of families so that students can achieve at their highest potential. Congratulations to the Pennsylvania CHW Association for their relentless advocacy for these important services.

PSBHA Warns on the Potential Loss of Title X Funding for Reproductive Health Services in Pennsylvania

PSBHA joined Philadelphia City Councilmember Kendra Brooks and other advocates at the People’s Hearing on Reproductive Health in Philadelphia this March. The hearing was organized by the Philadelphia Reproductive Health Task Force. A Building 21 high school student spoke to the crowd about the importance of her SBHC’s reproductive health services to her and her family, and the impact that the cuts to the historic federal Title X funding are having across the city and state.

PSBHA shared the Philadelphia SBHCs mid-year data with the Philadelphia Delegation of Pennsylvania’s General Assembly and beyond thanking them for their support.

Please support our work to sustain the school-based health center data hub. PSBHA worked with Apex to launch the SBHC Data Hub in 2022 with a two year Health Equity grant sponsored by the Pennsylvania Senate. Now we must sustain it, to continue to quantify data, describe services provided, and evaluate impact.
