PENNSYLVANIA SBHCs ADVANCE HEALTH EQUITY IN THE 2023–24 SCHOOL YEAR

PSBHA is proud of all the great work school-based health centers (SBHCs) have done to bring kids up-to-date with critical preventative health care, better management of their asthma for more classroom time, identifying and addressing behavioral health concerns, and so much more.

Please support our work to sustain the school-based health center data hub. PSBHA worked with Apex to launch the SBHC Data Hub in 2022 with a two year Health Equity grant sponsored by the Pennsylvania Senate. Now we must sustain it, to continue to quantify data, describe services provided, and evaluate impact.

Philadelphia City Council Urges General Assembly to Fund School-Based Health Centers

In June, the Philadelphia City Council passed Resolution 240518 affirming that school-based health centers (SBHCs) are one of the most effective strategies for delivering preventative care to underserved youth, a vehicle for achieving health equity and key for increasing academic achievement among Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable students.

The resolution, sponsored by Council member Ahmad at the request of Council President Johnson unanimously passed and ended with the rally cry that the Pennsylvania General Assembly “allocate full funding for School-Based Health Centers and give the Commonwealth’s most vulnerable children an opportunity to thrive by providing complete mental and physical health in their schools.”
